Skills for Care are guidance and publicity regarding Apprenticeship schemes within Adult Social Care and in doing so have produce a short film demonstrating how valuable the Apprenticeship schemes have been to those that have experienced it first hand – one of which is Way Ahead Care’s very own Dan Burt.

An Apprenticeship is a combination of on and off the job learning and development. As an apprentice, you’ll gain work experience, and achieve nationally recognised qualifications, whilst earning a wage.

If you’re new to adult social care, then an Apprenticeship is one of the best ways to get into the sector. You’ll work alongside experienced staff and learn the skills and knowledge for you to be a skilled and confident worker.

Apprenticeships can also help those working in adult social care to formalise their knowledge and progress their career.

Anyone living in England, over 16 years of age and not in full-time education can apply for an Apprenticeship, whether you are just leaving school, have been working for years, or are seeking to start a new career; there is no upper age limit.

Most Apprenticeships last between 12 months and two years and are primarily work-based, allowing you to develop practical skills.

At the end of your Apprenticeship you’ll have gained both experience and qualifications.
