Spreading the Word
Further to Way Ahead Care’s ongoing assessed care and support services delivered within Extra Care Housing across Taunton Deane and Sedgemoor; WAC foster partnerships with other agencies and the third sector to enhance the general offer to the scheme and the opportunities it can make available to the people living there.
One such activity was the visit of pupils from Beech Grove Primary School in Wellington to Lodge Close.
The pupils spend their time sharing books with the tenants of Lodge Close and other members of the community attending as part of their weekly Lunch Club. The youngsters enjoyed dressing up in character, discussing their favourite books, holding quizzes for the tenants to partake in and looking at the recommended books for children.
A spokesperson for the school said: “Everyone enjoyed the experience with the children asking for a return visit.”
Their visit also made the Wellington Weekly, where these pictures were published.
Way Ahead Care’s service model within the Extra Care Housing Schemes is a more holistic approach to the delivery of services and will be better placed to be able to meet the goals and aspirations of the tenants, maximizing their potential for independence.
Way Ahead Care have a number of activities and visitors planned throughout 2019 within all the schemes that we manage.
