Way Ahead Care provides care and support to adults of all ages and disabilities, to ensure continued wellbeing and independence. We strive to provide quality and flexible care and support services within the comfort of the individual’s own home. This can be delivered through either private bespoke services purchased directly or using Direct Payments or an Individual/Personal Budget through an agreement with the Local Authority.
We are able to offer a wide range of care and support services designed to meet the individual’s needs. This can either be a short term arrangement for a specific need, longer term support to meet ongoing requirements or more specialised 24hr care.
Providing care and support for over 20 years
Way Ahead Care was started in 1994 by Pamela Smith who supported a client of a residential home who wished to return home. As the service expanded the owner of the residential home decided to retire and the new owner had no interest in domiciliary care so Pamela took over the service on a permanent basis. Throughout Way Ahead Careβs progression the company has expanded to deliver over 6000hrs of care a week at its peak and employed over 300 members of staff. Way Ahead Care holds ongoing contracts with Somerset and Bath Local Authorities and has provided numerous pilots and specialist schemes on behalf of Local Authorities to meet specific needs.
Continual training
We not only care for our clients but also our staff and continually invest in our own training division, Step Ahead Training. We actively encourage staff to further themselves with continual training, apprenticeships and internal pathways.
Way Ahead Care uses our very own ‘Step Ahead Training’ to offer a vast amount of training opportunities as well as linking with local health professionals to give enhanced and specialist training.
As part of our ongoing commitments to regulations – all staff are required to undertake the care certificate as well as completing the Mandatory Oliver McGowan Training on Learning Disability and Autism.
Strategic Partnerships
We are a Strategic Partner of both Somerset and Bath & North East Somerset Local Authorities. We are also contracted with Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to provide Fast Track End of Life Services. This is only achieved through completion of a vigorous tendering process and subject to quarterly and annual assessment of service delivery and review.
